Your school has a sanction for smart classrooms, and now somebody has to turn that sanction into a working panel on the wall. What NEP 2020 Actually Says About Classroom Technology
Read the source before you quote it in a note. The National Education Policy 2020 does not name brands, screen sizes or budgets. How Procurement on GeM Works
The Ministry of Education has instructed States and UTs that all purchases from central funds under Samagra Shiksha should be routed through GeM, on the reasoning that it delivers standardised equipment at effective prices. A GeM smart board purchase is therefore the default path, not one option among many.
General Financial Rules 2017, Rule 149, sets out how you buy at each value band. Up to Rs 50,000 you may order directly from any suitable seller on the portal. Add one more filter. Under the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order 2017, purchase preference goes to Class-I local suppliers, defined as those meeting minimum 50 per cent local content. Ask every bidder for that declaration in writing.

A quotation collected six months before the bid document goes out rarely survives contact with current catalogue rates, so refresh your estimate at the last possible moment. Shortlist on total five-year cost rather than the sticker figure. Ask for a live demonstration in your own classroom, with your own teachers and your own textbook page open on screen. Confirm spare-part availability and where the nearest service engineer is actually based.
